I’ve already got the title Meditation Made Simple, which goes into different healing light visualizations and breathing exercises. I also have Lifescapes Guided Meditation, which is more of what I’m looking for right now. They have actual scenarios that they go through while you visualize them (one where it takes you through a rainforest, another where you lay out in the moonlight, and even one where you float in the ocean).
Does anyone know of any other similar types of CD’s out there?

have you sampled the many, many visual meditations on youtube?

A colleague of mine would like to find the some guided meditation in forms of CD, or MP3 that can be listened to when he is doing sport like running, cycling… It is not the slow and relaxing guided meditation, but the rythmic and fast ones which found hard to find.
Any idea or any website that contains related info?

Never heard of a “guided meditation” for active movement. Though I have found some music can create a meditative rhythm that helps focus the mind.
First time I discovered this was on the treadmill and listening to Queen’s “We Will Rock You”. I found my foot falls fell in time with the beat and got into a very meditative state where I wasn’t thinking of the effort or being tired. Just kept me moving forward one step at a time.
If you do find something similar, let us know about it. I’d be curious to know if it works.

I go to a Catholic school and my teacher wants me and my class to write about a guided meditation even though she did not have enough time to explain what it was during class.

A guided meditation is simply when the person meditating listens to, and follows the directions of, someone providing instructions (this can include listening to a recording).
Examples included guided visualizations, or even guided relaxation techniques. Another example would be a guided loving kindness meditation, where the person in the “guiding” role might say something like,
“Bring to your mind someone you find it easy to wish well. Picture them in your mind and say to yourself, ‘May this person be happy. May they be at peace. May they be well and free from danger.’ Now bring another person to mind, towards whom you have an effectively neutral regard. Picture them and say to yourself, “May this person be happy [etc.]‘ And now bring to mind someone you experience conflict with … [and do the same thing].”

I am looking for free meditations online, either streaming video/audio or something that I can download. I am looking for both guided meditations and meditation music. My areas of interest are chakras, energy balancing, white light energy and mantras, specifically the OM used in ancient meditations.

I am interested in a form of guided meditation. Unfortunately I am having great difficulty learning what it is called. Essentially, the narrator on the audio file talks you through a journey where you visualize seeing different things and feeling different things(eg seeing a picture of a tropical island on the wall, now visualize you are swimming in the water towards the island, now feel the sand beneath your feet, and the warm sun on your shoulders). Typically there is music and sounds, quality narrative voice.
Can someone tell me where i can get this?

Dear Quo,
These are just called guided meditations. You can get really good quality ones at this website and download the mp3′s as well.
Enjoy

I just tried guided meditation for the first time and it made me cry. Is this unusual or just a sign of emotions/stress being released? Serious answers only please.
Sati on November 7, 2011
There is nothing unusual about crying during meditation. It is perfectly normal. Its an emotional response to your mind dealing with itself. Its a way of letting go. Crying is usually a good thing. Hopefully you felt better afterward.

I’ve read a couple books on concentration and samdhi but i haven’t progressed too terribly far even with quite a bit of practice. Just an online audio file or something similar to help gain access concentration would be nice. There wasn’t any mention of guided meditation in the books I read so I’m a bit dubious about the whole process but open to suggestion. Also, any links to websites that discuss meditation would be helpful too. Thanks.

Do you know of any sites that offer FREE guided meditation stuff? Preferably audio clips.
I’ve been googling it and it seems so hard to find anything good that doesn’t cost money.

Hello, I am going to be sitting for an exam within the next few months… Does anyone know a good Guided meditation for exams, and any tips of staying focus and not tired during the exam? Thank you

The most basic and best is just foucssing on your breathe and nothing else. I lay on my back on my bed cause Im muscular and not flexible…and best in my opinion and it keeps it simple….I focus on diaphramic breathing like singers, actors, and speakers….I breath as deep and slow as I can…and release as slow as I can. I let my stomach expand as big and slow as possible when inhaling, and let it get smaller, slowly as I exhale….If you breathe like this you won’t be able to think about anything else…..make it about the breathing exercise, and it will turn into mediation by default…..
The best meditation is just concentrating on the breathe….He is the best CD…Its genius
